As we enter the weekend, a time filled with to-do lists, cleaning, catching up with everything that may have fallen to the wayside during the week, and for some of us, work (GAH...so many projects to grade this weekend), don't feel guilty if you want to sit around all Sunday morning in your robe, watching Meet the Press and various programs on the LiveWell network (which is a learning, travel, and style channel for those of us without cable television). Go out to a leisurely brunch with people you haven't seen in a while. You've earned this time and deserve it. Heck, I'd say you NEED it to be healthy and well.
I love this print:
If you want to get me an early birthday present, or maybe even treat yourself, you can find it here.
TGIF ya'll!

Workin' it.
I've been fortunate to have some unique jobs in my lifetime, and these jobs have provided me with fun and random experiences. From delivering fancy golf clubs to high-level executives during my internship, hob-knobbing with gubernatorial candidates, getting into bidding wars on video game systems on Ebay, or going to concerts as part of a sales pitch, I've had some pretty noteworthy work experiences. I've pretty much lived paycheck to paycheck at every job, but I have some good stories (I need to find a way to make these stories into something lucrative!)
Last night I had another cool experience while working "crowd control" for a private Matt & Kim concert. I say "crowd control" because I honestly didn't have to do anything other than hope that no one dropped any of the crowd-surfing students. I mean, we didn't want to be fun Governors and try to STOP the crowd surfing, we just wanted to make sure those who participated didn't get dropped on their head. Everyone was really well-behaved and seemed to have a great time!
In case you've never heard of Matt & Kim here's a look:

They are super fun to see live. They are fun, energetic, and really seem to be thankful that the crowd is there to see them perform. It's super duper cute.

About this blog...
I typed this up and then realized it was too long:
I was laid off. Don't be sad! It was not necessarily a bad thing, other than the fact I am now addicted to clipping coupons, shopping at the Farmer's Market, and had to switch to much cheaper hair products (I would probably buy good face stuff even if I only made minimum wage). Follow along as I try to figure out the best way to put a positive spin on the fact I am jobless, man-less, and clueless as I approach my 31st birthday. Sometimes life doesn't turn out as we might expect, but that doesn't mean it won't turn out well eventually. Right? RIGHT?

Day 12 - The day I procrastinate and wonder why all these people aren't at work
So when I was a contributing member of society, and not an unemployed bum living off the government (okay, that's me being dramatic, but I did have my first offical call-in to the Unemployment Office today, that was something new...and also incorrect to say I'm living off the government, since my former employer pays the Unemployment office), I always dreamed of a time when I would run errands in the middle of the day on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or any day of the week between Monday - Friday. I figured traffic getting to those places would be light, the stores would be practically empty, parking lots would allow me close access to the entrances, etc. However, I am finding that it not the case. There's still PEOPLE EVERYWHERE! Eating lunch on patios, walking around the streets, going to the grocery store, buying cute shit at Target, etc. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN!? I understand I live in a touristy town, and in a neighborhood where people generally stop while in Chicago (I live really close to Wrigley Field), but what is it these people DO that allows them the luxury of waltzing around on weekdays? I feel like they can tell I'm new at this, perhaps there is a timid bounce in my step, or maybe I look confused at the daylight, and I can tell this is not the first time they've experienced 9 - 5 freedom.
I am tempted to walk up to one of them tomorrow and simply say "What's your story? How come you aren't at work?" I understand not all professions work a 9 - 5 schedule, but I feel like the majority of them do? I would love to see a statistic on that. Sure, if I see a really tan girl with a hot body walking around during the day, I'll probably figure she slings drinks at one of the cool clubs in town and probably pulls in around $800/night (seriously), but if I see a normal looking woman NOT pushing a stroller I might just need to find out what the deal is.
