I have been sitting in Caribou Coffee in Boystown for about four hours today, reading about poverty levels, low-wage jobs, and the economic inequalities in America. Around me, people are sitting in front of their Apple computers (mine's a Dell) working on who knows what (I'm pretty sure most of them are working on something, whether homework or work-work, but I know the two guys sitting closest to me are currently watching some sort of game or video).
Again, as I sit here I am struck with the question "What do these people do?", and another one "Why are gay men so damn cute?"

I wonder the same thing when I see people sitting around in the middle of the day.
I have to wonder, don't they have toddlers to chase around, too?
And to answer your second question, I think it's largely due to a combination of the Forbidden Fruit Effect and personal grooming at an unabashedly feminine level.
I guess it's due to the fact that where I grew up, most people had 9 - 5 jobs, so pretty much all the adults on the block left for work and returned home from work at the same time. Not a whole lot of swing shifts in my childhood.
Forbidden Fruit Effect is right. That's also why I tend to be attracted to unavailable straight men too. I need to get over it, haha.
I have often lamented the fact that I am not a gay man... especially when I watched Queer as Folk regularly.
